The Wine Intelligence’s 2021 report has named the award-winning Marqués de Cáceres as the most influential Rioja brand from the Spanish wine market. The bodega, today run by Cristina Forner, the daughter and 2nd generation family member is present in over 130 countries and the No1. Rioja brand in the USA.
A spokesperson for the winery commented “This type of recognition helps the Marqués de Cáceres team to continue its efforts to improve with undeterred commitment in order to offer the best wines to consumers year after year.”
To scoop the prestigious accolade, over 25,000 consumers in 25 global markets were asked about their level of knowledge of particular wine brands, how often they bought certain wines in the last three months, the likelihood of future purchases and whether they would recommend the brand to others.
Willem Hunter, Managing Director of Lighthouse Brands said "As the exclusive UK distributor for this fantastic cellar, we are delighted for the team at Marqués de Cáceres and look forward to many more accolades that the brand deserves."
The origins of the Forner family date back to 1920 when they founded “Vinicola Forner”, a family business located in Sagunto (Valencia) dedicated to the production, marketing and exporting of wines from the area. Exiled to France during the Civil War, Enrique Forner began working in the family vineyard situated in the Minervois (south-east France) and in 1952 became a merchant in the Rhone and Loire Valleys in France.
